After his studies of economic geography at the University of Hamburg, Panajotis Babakoudis started his occupational career with Uniconsult GmbH as a consultant in transport and logistics. His activities at Uniconsult GmbH were focused on consulting in maritime hinterland transport by rail. He conducted several feasability studies and potential analyses for container terminal operators. Through these activities he expanded his knowledge of operating processes along the complete maritime transport chain, comprising the different parties involved. Since 2011, he is working as a process manager at TFG Transfracht. He is significantly participating in the installation and further development of business process management within the company. Besides the genuine process management activities, he is deeply involved in the order fulfillment process at TFG and consequently participating in several technical projects, all with the overall goal to achieve higher process standardization and efficiency within the entire network of TFG Transfracht. As a process manager, Panajotis Babakoudis and his colleagues form the interface between the respective process owners and the IT department.
TFG Transfracht is the European market leader in containerized maritime hinterland traffic by rail from and to the seaports of Bremerhaven, Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven to several destinations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. The main customers are international shipping companies and forwarders. With the Albatros-Express-network TFG Transfracht operates a highly sophisticated rail network in Europe. More than 20 inland terminals are integrated by about 12.000 connections per year. TFG Transfracht offers every day a transport capacity of 4.000 TEU.
TFG Transfracht is part of DB Mobility and Logistics AG with a turnaround of ca. 250 million Euros. In 2012 TFG moved about 550.000 containers. Besides the headquarters in Frankfurt am Main TFG has branches in Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Duisburg, Berlin, Leipzig, Munich, Nuremberg, Enns (A) and Olten (CH).
