On September 21th 2012, the initiative welcomed 80 process management experts to the first Process Management Conference in the Lufthansa Training & Conference Center Seeheim.

To get started, Prof. Dr. Tim Weitzel from Otto-Friedrich-University of Bamberg presented a key note depicting severe impacts of inaccurate IT project management.

Structured into the four topics of process modeling, integration of normative and legislative requirements, organization-wide defined process model, and process management roles, nine exciting and informative lectures followed.

Beside recent best practice workshop results, experts from Cassidian, Endress+Hauser Conducta, Astrium Space Transportation and the German Air Traffic Control – DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung – provided instructive insights into the code of practice of process management. The competent audience listened attentively to the speakers. In addition to that, the chance not only to enjoy the catering but to get in touch and to do intense networking with other guests during the lunch and coffee breaks was appreciated by the participants. So there was almost nobody not having gained new ideas and helpful suggestions of how to improve the process management of their own businesses.

At last, all speakers participated in a panel discussion dealing with issues of process improvement such as central approaches, commitment, BPM as a part of management, human factors, change management, budget, and coordination.

As a special highlight the conference successfully finished with a big BBQ satisfying every kind of taste. In that way discussions could be uphold, experiences could be shared, the day could be reviewed, or simply nice conversations could be hold in a charming atmosphere.

Of course there are things to improve for similar future conferences concerning the organization and presentation of the results but all in all the first Process Management Conference can be seen as a success which is also confirmed by mostly positive feedbacks of the participants. Especially the opportunities to discuss with other experts and to share experiences during the breaks and the comfortable atmosphere were regarded as very good.

We like to thank the speakers and the participants for this eventful and informative day and we hope that you have gained a variety of new ideas and that you are willing to attend further events in the future.
